Hart Nibbrigkade 22 2597 XV Den Haag Netherlands maschke@antipolygraph.org Saturday, 30 September 2000 HAMILTON COUNTY COURT OF COMMON PLEAS ATTN: ROBERT S. KRAFT GENERAL DIVISION HAMILTON COUNTY COURT HOUSE 1000 MAIN STREET CINCINNATI OH 45202 Dear Judge Kraft: Kimball Perry of the Cincinnati Post reported on 27 September 2000 that you were planning to urge your fellow judges to allow expanded use of polygraph chart readings in the courtroom. I urge you to re-consider your position. Polygraphy is fundamentally dependent on trickery and has no scientific basis. It has a built-in bias against the truthful, and yet is handily defeated by deceptive persons through easily learned countermeasures. I invite you to download and read AntiPolygraph.org's free book, The Lie Behind the Lie Detector. You'll find it on-line at: http://antipolygraph.org/pubs.shtml In it, you will discover the trickery on which polygraphy depends and learn how polygraph "tests" can be and have been easily defeated. Polygraph chart readings are utterly unreliable, and should never be admitted as evidence in a court of law. You may also wish to consider the case of Floyd "Buzz" Fay of Perrysburg, Ohio, who in 1978 was wrongly convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison based on polygraph "evidence." Sincerely, George W. Maschke AntiPolygraph.org P.S.: A copy of this letter will be posted on AntiPolygraph.org's web site.
