Despite our repeated and ongoing efforts, we have not yet found a buyer for our second son. He’s certainly enough trouble at times — so we frequently offer him to family or strangers for $5. Everyone just gives a goofy smile, as if we were kidding. NO WAY.

He knows this. One recent day, when I brought out the “if you don’t behave, I might have to try to sell you again!” warning, but this five-and-a-half-year-old gleefully retorted:

Let’s just say, your efforts to sell me haven't exactly met with much success so far.

Touché. Maybe we'll keep him.
